The Beginning of Time
At the beginning there was not time. Everything stood still. The Asgards gave a giantrees Night and her son Day each a horse and a wagon and placed them up in the sky so that they could travel every night and every day. Her horse was name Rimfakse whose mane was misty frozen and it made the early morning on Earth damp by dew, and his horse was named Skinfakse and his mane glowed of bright light. Now the Sun has been created from sparks and glitter from Muspelheim and the Moon received his order of travel. The Sun and the Moon both received a wagon and two children were responsible to make sure that the sun and Moon would not fall off the wagon during the daily travels while controlling the fast horses. Two giant wolves continously chased them in hopes to some day devour the Sun and the Moon. (And during every full Lunar or Solar Eclypse they were doing exactly that). In the Beginning, our planet was nothing but jungle and desert. The Asgards and Midgards then created comfortable living places for themselves and us humans and put such at the center of the world. And there at the center of Midgard the gods built giant places. Asgard, a giant god-fortress protected by thick walls could only be reached by riding over the rainbow, a colorful bridge of burning fire. Even around Midgard was a thick impenetrable wall, because outside these fortresses in the wild and Unknown, only Darkness and unknown dark powers ruled. There, in Utgard and Riesenheim (Jötunheim) the giants (Jöten) and dwarves and trolls lived. Then WAY out at the edge of the world was the World Ocean (Weltmeer). Dwarves and Elves also had their regions. Dwarves mainly dwelled in between rocks and by mountains and often inside of it at hitten places in Utgard and Midgard. They were well known as hard working black- and goldsmiths, but no one would really trust them. The Elves and gods on the other side were friendly and sympathetic towards mankind. They named Alfenheim their land. Many speculate that Alfenhein is inside the great walls of Asgard, and others think that one might find it inside Midgard. Much uncertainty rules over the dwarves and elves and many thing that they are of the same origin and should rather be named "Light-Alfs" and "Dark-Alfs". Next to Asgards and Midgards was even yet another rulership of gods. They were named Wanes and they lived in Wanaheim. Their fortress and land was leveled to the ground though and and no passed down history refers to a location at where it might have been. Asgard is in the center of Midgard and right in the center of that land, a huge tree got planted and named Yggdrasil. One of it's roots is in Asgard, another in Riesenheim and yet a third in Niflheim. It's branches are so huger that it shades the entire world. Yggdrasil is the center of the world and as long as the tree lives, thrives, produces and grows, the entire whole world will live. Close to a beautiful natural spring in Asgard lived the three goddesses of destiny and faith. Their names were Urd, Werdandi and Skuld. They knew the faith of every living being. Even amongst elves and dwarves were females that could see more then any of the others. women in the human world with this gift were often known as Wölva. The name itself means "stave carrier". Their staves were the symbol of their supernatural abilities. In trance, she can contact the gods and the supernatural and knows many magical chants and songs. Which gods were enemies of mankind? Well, you can name them trolls and giants which lived in Utgard and Riesenheim (Jötunheim) whichwas in the desolate mountain ranges in europe. They were the powers of chaos and were very large and strong. The only god under the Asgards that could control them to some extent was Thor. Their magic was primitive and not comparable to the other gods. One time for an example, they created this huge mean giant just from clay and dirt. It was said that this monster was 90 miles high and just its chest measurement was 30 miles around. The female giants also named Jötuns rode around on wolves. They could be incredibly ugly, or immensely beautiful. Even Odin himself was known to court a few of them and engaged into wild love affairs.
